Johnny Butler & Dani Mari have united to create a series of songs inspired by Dario Argento's movie trilogy about three witches called The Three Mothers (Le Tre Madri), (Suspiria, Inferno, Mother of Tears). Johnny Butler combines sultry saxophone and other woodwind instrument melodies with Dani Mari's haunting witchy vocals. With the help of Todd Reynolds (Steve Reich, Bang on a Can) on violin, Rose Rutledge on flute, and Will Hanza on mandolin and acoustic guitar, the result is eerily akin to an otherworldly chamber orchestra.

I do not know what price I should have to pay for breaking what we alchemists call Silentium. The life experiences of our colleagues should warn us not to accept laymen by imposing our knowledge upon them. I, Varelli, an architect living in London, Met the three mothers and designed and built for them three dwelling places. One in Rome, one in New York, and a third in Freiberg Germany. I failed to discover until too late that from those three locations, the three mothers rule the world with sorrow, tears, and darkness,

Mater Suspiriorum, the mother of sighs, and the oldest of the three, lives in Freiberg.

Mater Lachrymarum, the mother of tears, and the most beautiful of the sisters, holds rule in Rome,

Mater Tenebrarum, the mother of darkness, was the youngest and cruelest of the three, controls New York.

And I built their horrible houses, the repositories of all their filthy secrets. Those so called Mothers are actually wicked stepmothers , incapable of creating life.
